The Least Used Amtrak Station In Missouri As Of 2023

HERMANN, MO - Amtrak served 615,393 passengers across Missouri in fiscal year 2023, with 16 trains operating daily along several major routes.

According to Amtrak, the Missouri River Runner and Lincoln Service routes connect key cities within the state, while the long-distance Texas Eagle and Southwest Chief routes link Missouri to destinations as far as Los Angeles and Chicago.

St. Louis (STL) was by far the busiest station in the state, with 321,780 riders, followed by Kansas City (KCY) with 127,044 passengers. These two hubs play a critical role in connecting travelers within Missouri and beyond, according to Amtrak.

However, Arcadia (ACD) was the least used station in the state, with only 1,228 passengers during the year, reflecting its more rural location and lower demand, according to Amtrak.

Other notable stations included Kirkwood (KWD) with 43,128 riders and Jefferson City (JEF) with 32,693 passengers.

Despite challenges with on-time performance, due to reliance on host railroads that often prioritize freight, Amtrak remains a vital transportation option for many Missourians.

When a railroad line counts busses as part of their “railroad”, that’s a problem.
