The Save Our Stages Act: What You Need to Know

The fight for our independent venues has made it Capitol Hill

U.S. Senators John Cornyn (R-TX) and Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) have introduced the Save Our Stages Act, or SOS for short, a bipartisan bill which would provide Small Business Administration grants for independent live music venue operators affected by COVID-19 stay-at-home orders.

These grants are vital to keeping independent venues afloat in the seemingly never-ending coronavirus pandemic we are in. These grants would provide at least six months of financial support to keep venues alive by paying employees and preserving this all-to-critical economic sector for communities across America during the Coronavirus Pandemic.

“Texas is home to a number of historic and world-class small entertainment venues, many of which remain shuttered after being the first businesses to close,” said Sen. Cornyn. “The culture around Texas dance halls and live music has shaped generations, and this legislation would give them the resources to reopen their doors and continue educating and inspiring Texans beyond the coronavirus pandemic.”
