NJ Man Sues Prank Company for Sending Glitter Bombs, Fake Poop

Well, this is sh*tty.

A Bergen County, New Jersey man has filed a lawsuit against a Queens, New York prank company for shocking, offending, and frightening him. His suit details how receiving "Multiple unsolicited, obscene, and harmful packages," to his Oakland, New Jersey address over the course of 18 months left him feeling... well, crappy.

Nicholas Carretta, 47, of Bergen County's western-reaching Oakland, claims he received packages of exploding glitter bombs, imitation poop, bags of dirt, and even chocolate versions of male parts from New York-based Ruin Days, a prank-focused company that allows customers to send anonymous mostly non-dangeous pranks. But everything is relative, especially to angry New Jersey residents like Nicholas Carretta.

The company's tag line states, "We ruin your enemy's day..." which obviously makes us wonder, who exactly is the enemy of Mr. Carretta, and what did he do to merit the receipt of glitter bombs and edible body parts? It started in May of 2019 when a chocolate penis was sent to Caretta's Fair Lawn, New Jersey office according to the suit filed in the Superior Court of Bergen County.

Mr. Carretta claims he suffered, "Fear, apprehension, harm, and emotional distress," as a result of receiving the chocolate dong, which, as any woman will tell you, is par for the female experience course and probably extra jarring for someone not used to sitting to pee. Then, in November of 2020, mid-pandemic, Mr. Caretta says he received a spring-loaded glitter bomb in an unassuming package. It blew up in his face.

Mr. Carretta is now seeking damages of $75,000, along with court fees as well as post-judgment interest.

“Carretta opened the package (and) the glitter bomb exploded in his face, causing glitter to strike him with force in the eyes, nose, and mouth,” the suit claims. The included glitter was then, “Lodged in Mr. Carretta’s clothing, as well as a nearby desk, files and carpet,” according to papers filed. That's not all though, because just weeks later on November 27, 2020, Mr. Carretta received a packaged addressed to a “Fat Midget” that contained chocolate imitation sh*t, according to lawsuit filings.

Apparently, Mr. Carretta was, "Offended that the package of chocolate imitation feces came in contact with his body,” the lawsuit claims." The eye-opening lawsuit alleges assault, battery, infliction of emotional distress, negligence and conspiracy -- a tall order for some chocolate poop and a glittery mess. The lawsuit is also seeking damages from John Doe who is alleged to have ordered the prank products from R&D Promotions.

“Ruin Days agreed with and entered into a conspiracy with John Doe(s) to harm Mr. Carretta by accepting the order to send him” the packages, the suit says.

The chocolate phalluses seem to have been the line in the sand, though, and this is hardly the first time in history pranksters or their accomplices have been sued by non-laughing parties. In 2018 a YouTube prankster was sued by this popular burger chain, and HG.org, a legal resources website, details how those who have been pranked actually have some degree of legal highground to sue from assuming they were harmed or humiliated in a tangible way.

Ruin Days has not returned our request for comments, but we will tell you this -- we're not shocked a Bergen County, New Jersey resident was the one to take such, er, matters into his own hands.
