Hit the Sheets: Rhode Island Re-Launches HotelWeekRI
The second annual Hotel Week RI will be April 17-30, 2021 in conjunction with Visit Rhode Island, and invites guests to take advantage of some of the state's best luxury hotels, historic inns, cozy B&Bs, and resorts offered at fixed rates of $100, $200, $300, or $400 per night -- a savings of at least 30 percent off usual rates.

It's launching at the height of spring travel season with the goal of jumpstarting local travel again now that stay-at-home orders have eased, vaccines are plentiful, and consumer confidence is growing.
“Rhode Island hotels – and the small businesses that support them – have been hit very hard during the COVID-19 pandemic, so we are very glad to have the opportunity to relaunch Hotel Week RI this spring,” said Matt Sheaff, Rhode Island’s Acting Chief Marketing Officer. “Last year’s promotion resulted in 1,955 direct hotel bookings in its inaugural debut, and we hope to continue that momentum to help our state’s beloved hospitality industry while providing an affordable escape for guests and residents alike.”

Visit Rhode Island partnered with six local Rhode Island regional tourism partners to pull the massive savings event off, including Blackstone Valley Tourism Council, Block Island Tourism Council, Discover Newport, Go Providence, South County Tourism Council and Visit Warwick. The state-wide promotion, which is exclusively available on the Hotel Week RI website, includes heavily reduced rates with a substantial savings of at least 30 percent at many of the Ocean State’s iconic luxury properties, such as Weekapaug Inn in Westerly and The Vanderbilt in Newport, as well as a wide variety of hotel rooms throughout the destination, including Blackstone Valley, Block Island, Newport County, Providence, South County, and Warwick. Furthermore, the majority of participating hotels, like the boutique properties Hotel Viking in Newport, Graduate and The Dean Hotel in Providence, and The Blue Dory Inn on Block Island, are offering $100 rates. New additions to this year’s promotion include the recently opened The Wayfinder in Newport and cottage rentals from Block Island Inns. As an added bonus, several properties’ rates are inclusive of complimentary amenities, such as dining credits, room upgrades, parking, and tickets to local attractions.

The state of Rhode Island is still very much adhereing to responsible travel guidelines for locals and visitors, making this an ideal weekend getaway idea for the whole of New England, New York City and the Hudson Valley residents as well.
"I'm really excited to give Hotel Providence a whirl," Jenny Macklin, a 29-year-old Providence resident told us. "I still don't love the idea of hopping on a plane, but my wedding anniversary is coming up, so the idea of going to a local hotel where I don't have to make the bed and we get a change of nicer scenery? I'm into it, and this is affordable."
