    Fatal collision with tractor-trailer rollover on US-101

    Shortly after 12 am on Saturday, April 24, an overturned vehicle and five-vehicle collision were reported at US-101 S & Woodman Ave.

    Traffic slowed to accommodate the wreckage and allow space for emergency medical and fire services.

    The tractor-trailer reportedly rolled over onto the middle divider between US-101 South and US-101 North.

    Firefighters arrived on the scene minutes after the wreck was reported and worked to extricate people from their vehicles.

    Four people were injured in the collision, one with fatal injuries, according to local firefighters and EMS. Later this report was revised to six people injured in the collision, including the person who suffered fatal injuries. Two people reportedly suffered minor injuries.

    The person who died has not yet been identified.

    Local residents filmed the scene. Video shows the tractor-trailer rolled onto its side on the divider.

    By 12:33 am, firefighters shut down the southbound lanes on US-101 while removing people from the tractor-trailer. They cut into the trailer to free a man trapped inside.

    The injured people were transported to a local hospital.

    By 1 am, According to a Tweet from CHP Los Angeles Traffic, all eastbound lanes of US-101 near Van Nuys Boulevard, and three lanes on westbound US-101, closed to traffic for an unknown amount of time due to the collision.
