Thinking About Dining At Twigs On The South Hill?

Last week my family went out to eat at Twigs on the South Hill. Boy, was that a mistake.

It had been a long day. Work had been super stressful. My wife had been wrangling our kids like a cowboy wrangling cattle in the wild west. Our fridge was fairly empty, and we didn't have anything to eat that would be a quick fix for dinner.

So, we made the executive decision to go out to eat as a family.

As we started looking for places to eat, we decided fast food was out. Why would we want to eat that garbage anyway, we weren't in a hurry. Then we started going through local burger places. We didn't want to drive to our favorite place Rogers.

So, we settled on Twigs on the South Hill.

It's close to home and plenty of people said the food was good so we figured we would go for it. Plus it has an outdoor patio and it was nice out. So, we loaded up the car and headed over to Twigs. The family was excited to get out of the house anyway, so we thought this to be a great plan.

Parking Should Have Told Us How The Night Would Go

Once we got there, we found that everyone had the plan to go out to eat. Maybe because everyone wanted to get out to eat again before Spokane County gets put back into 'phase 2' or because it was a rough day for everyone. It was a full moon after all.

The parking lot was full so we had to park across the street at Ace Hardware. Not that big of a deal. Unless you have a seven-year-old, five-year-old, and 9 month old. Packing us all across the street and to the restaurant was a treat, but we made it. We even got to sit on the patio!

We ordered right away because we knew the kids have a shelf life sitting around and coloring, and then proceeded to wait for our food. And we waited. It reminded me of last year's Mother's Day when we picked up the special take-out dinner. My daughter and I waited for an hour and a half for it even though we had ordered it 30 minutes before arriving.

Dinner Arrived And It Left Us Wanting

Nevertheless, we finally got our food. Looking around at everyone else's food, we thought dinner would be good. Well, we got a burger that was a frozen meat patty heated up and thrown onto a bun. Thought the toppings and things were fresh (or fresh looking). Overall, it was not that great of a burger.

We also got a pulled pork sandwich. While it looked very inviting, it was nothing special. My wife makes pulled pork and it's way better than this sandwich. This thing was slathered in some kind of sauce that made up for the dry bread and meat. It tasted okay, but it wasn't the best.

For the kids, we got chicken strips. A staple for a kids' menu. Well, three extra ketchups later, the girls decided it wasn't worth eating all of them and finished off everyone's fries instead. In fact, the best part of the meal was the fries.

Service and Setting Was A Bit Odd Too

One other thing I noticed was that it seemed like it was 'girls night out' at Twigs. Most of the food we saw come out to other tables were salads. The drinks were all cocktails and wine. We also realized there was only one other family there eating too. It was really fun having to divert our daughters from the conversations around us.

Especially, when it was time to leave and the waiter took forever to get a check over to us. This extended stay was a bit much, I ended up taking the kids to the car while my wife waited longer to get our check and pay.

    Final Thoughts

I think if I come back here, it will be to go out for drinks. The food was okay. But it wasn't good enough to want to eat here again. It was a bummer. But, we didn't have to make dinner so I guess that was okay. Lesson learned.

What has your experience been at Twigs on the South Hill?

It's her opinion, I don't see anything hateful here. People that right posts to Bully, degrade or post anything to try to think there opinions don't matter are the mean shameful people. Stop the hate and get a hobby. Like I said anybody has the right to there own opinion. Maybe you don't agree but quit the hateful comments. It makes you look like really ugly

how the hell did they know it was a martini bar for one.... second is give a shity review to if you handed me a frozen f*uckin burger! even you go out to eat you pay for food and service. If it's crappy well maybe they need to have a chat with the front of the house staff and the back of the house staff and fix the problem.
