Though we often enjoy it at high-end seafood restaurants or in the form of surf and turf, I’m on a mission to make lobster tails a more casual, at-home offering. Cooking the Perfect Lobster Tails At Home is not difficult, nor should it be intimidating – and I’m so excited to share my tips with y’all today. The best part? Lobster tails often go on sale at your local seafood counter; watch for the sales + freeze them!

Perfect Lobster Tails At Home: A Guide

If you do have frozen lobster tails, let them fully unthaw before you start preparing them. Doing so, combined with the following recipe, will ensure quality and ease of making.

How To Butterfly A Lobster Tail

In this recipe, I butterfly the lobster tails — which is a very easy process. Here’s how:

    1. Using kitchen shears, cut down the top of the lobster shell. The lobster should be shell-side up.
    2. Gently pull apart each half of the shell.
    3. Slide your finger under the bottom of the lobster meat; push upwards, allowing the lobster meat to rest on top of the lobster shell.

    Ingredients

    • 4 Lobster Tails large

    For The Marinade

    • 3/4 stick Unsalted Butter melted
    • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
    • 1 tbsp Old Bay Seasoning
    • 1 tsp Lemon Juice freshly-squeezed

    Instructions

    Butterfly the Lobster Tails

    • Using kitchen shears, cut down the top of the lobster shell. The lobster should be shell-side up. Gently pull apart each half of the shell. Slide your finger under the bottom of the lobster meat; push upwards, allowing the lobster meat to rest on top of the lobster shell.

    Preparing the Broiled Lobster Tail

    • Preheat oven to a High Broil.
    • Mix together all marinade ingredients. Place lobster tails on a baking sheet. Liberally brush the marinade on top of the lobster tails.
    • Broil for roughly 1 minute per ounce of lobster. For example, if your lobster is 8 oz, you'd broil for 8 minutes.
    • Serve with melted butter and enjoy!
