Timucua Arts White House: A lifetime artistic experience
Music is an integral part of our lives. Although many characteristics make us unique, music brings us together. A talented man by the name of Benoit Glazer has been making music professionally for four decades. Not only has he had a successful career, but he has also devoted his time and talents to building up other musicians, regardless of their skill level.
After moving to Florida, Glazer noticed the evolution of music, despite the lack of outlets. Part of his superb reputation comes from building the Timucua White House, which provides a unique entertainment experience in Orlando, Florida. So when we're in the Orlando area and want to enjoy some art and music, visiting the Timucua House is the place to be.
How it began
Originally from Montreal, Benoit Glazer has always had a passion for musical arts. He began his professional career in 1981 playing jazz music. He's created hundreds of compositions for shows and films like The 7 Lives of Chances, and Fat, Dumb, and Happy.
Before his freelancing career, Glazer taught music at the McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, for nearly a decade at the young age of 21. When he moved to Florida in 1998, he began conducting for the world-famous Cirque Du Soleil. He also spent many years volunteering with Boone High School as a jazz orchestra conductor.
Over time, Benoit noticed musicians didn't have as many opportunities to create and share their music with their peers in Orlando. With such vast experience with musicians of all levels, he wanted to create a place for creatives to express themselves. So, he and his wife devised the perfect plan to create a home concert venue.
The Timucua Arts White House Project originated in their family home. The homesick couple would invite their friends and former bandmates into their Hunter's Creek residence. They would also often invite musicians within a mile radius to have jam sessions and network.
Over time, they decided to expand and built a three-story concert space to accommodate around 100 guests per show. So whether you are a percussionist or prefer to observe, the White House on Hamilton Lane is the place to be.
Benoit and Elaine even designed the decor to deliver the best possible acoustics. Their creative aesthetic matches the sound quality throughout the house, from their balconies to the African mask accent wall. As we walk in, we can admire their stained glass windows and beautiful granite floors.
Becoming a part of the Timucua Arts White House experience
From those of us Orlando Florida natives to the music fans passing through, there are plenty of opportunities for us to get in on the action. Benoit Glazer and his wife Elaine welcome new and seasoned artists to showcase their talents and premier new music in their home concert space.
Best of all, we can bring in our food and drinks, including alcoholic beverages. The only rule with food is we must be willing to take the containers we come in with home with us.
For those curious about how much the admission of this beautiful experience would cost, access to most of the shows is free. However, ticketed shows require a fee as advertised.
We can also record music and have it professionally produced by Benoit. His website offers a myriad of options to create music with him, which is also an excellent opportunity for newer artists to get professional advice and even meet other artists to collaborate.
Things to consider
Timucua is an all-inclusive concert venue. If we bring people with wheelchairs, we must contact them via email about accessibility before the show. The same applies to performers. Whether we're painting, sculpting, or performing music, it's essential to fill out an application to secure a spot on an open day.
There are also application forms to offer collaborative volunteer services. Once submitted, we can expect correspondence within a week of applying.
We can all appreciate seeing quality entertainment, especially at little to no cost. Benoit and Elaine are gracious enough to open their home and creative space to people who love music, so we should do our part to keep their vision alive. Whether that's donating our time, talents, or money, Timucua Arts White House is a place that benefits our culture.
Let's express our creativity in one of the most innovative music venues in Orlando, Florida.
