Illuminarium Experiences reaches $100 million in initial funding with investment from Eldridge

Illuminarium Experiences, a new global experiential entertainment company, has received $100 million in initial funding with its newest significant investment from Eldridge.

The commitment from Eldridge will support the launch of Illuminarium Experiences’ first-ever venue in Atlanta, Georgia, opening with WILD: Safari Experience on July 1, 2021, as well as future global locations. Illuminarium’s immersive entertainment venues allow visitors to experience real-world filmed content and authentic re-created worlds. The Illuminarium brand complements many of the entertainment, real estate, and sports businesses within the Eldridge network.

Illuminarium will produce unprecedented entertainment that will transport visitors to some of the most amazing places on Earth and even beyond. The Illuminarium experience places visitors inside the narrative, combining techniques used in traditional motion picture production and virtual reality so that visitors can experience the content in an immersive environment without wearable hardware. Illuminarium Experiences was created by worldwide leaders in cinematic and interactive content, architectural and theatrical design, and venue operations.

Illuminarium venues are located in major cities and tourism destinations around the world, like Atlanta, Las Vegas, and Miami. The venues are super scaled, bringing the immersive experience to a whole new level. The brand’s cinematic immersion will engage visitors’ entire visual and sensual framework. Visitors will be completely surrounded by a massive canvas, 350 feet long and over 20 feet high, with state-of-the-art laser projection, spatial beamforming audio where musical scores change with the listener’s location, in-floor technology that stimulates touch and motion, scent, and lidar-based interactive technologies.

The first-of-its-kind Illuminarium entertainment experience will open in Atlanta on July 1. WILD: Safari Experience will allow visitors to experience the beauty and splendor of Africa’s animals in their natural habitats. Visitors will be immersed in the authentic sights, sounds, and scents of native habitats across South Africa, Botswana, Kenya, and Tanzania all without ever leaving the Atlanta BeltLine.

WILD will be followed by SPACEWALK, a journey through the Solar System where visitors will be able to experience what it’s like to walk on the surface of the Moon and Mars. The audience will be transported from the planets to the Gas Giants on the outer regions of the Solar System to the distant and remote worlds of the Kuiper belt, and beyond.

Following Atlanta, Illuminarium will open in Las Vegas, Nevada at AREA 15 in January 2022 and in Miami, Florida at Mana in the Wynwood Arts District in spring 2022. Other North American locations under consideration include New York City, New York; Chicago, Illinois; Toronto, Canada; Montreal, Canada; Los Angeles, California; and Austin, Texas.
