Chicago's Cliff Dweller Club Provides Elite Social Options For the Arts Community
2021-06-09
" Membership has its privileges."
As a person who has been passionately involved in the creative community for decades (particularly on Chicago's dynamic arts scene) I have organized, consulted on, contributed to and attended a myriad of events for local writers, film makers, poets, bloggers, vocalists and visual artists.
These events include spoken word performances at Jazz clubs; live concerts; beautiful art exhibits at galleries; wine tastings; book signings; theatre; and even virtual gatherings.
Many of these events I have found to be culturally enriching, informative, and entertaining. Not to mention, a great means for expanding my social horizons, my freelance business and my networking opportunities.
One of my most favorite and memorable affairs over the years, was a literary bus tour, sponsored by Chicago Writers Association, that included a stop at Chicago's Cliff Dwellers Club located downtown. It was a truly impressive experience that I believe you'll want to explore in the near future, as our lovely city re-opens in days ahead.
Side note here: Their fireside lounge area and breath-taking scenic view will definitely "wow" you.
FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES, HERE'S WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THE CLIFF DWELLERS CLUB.
WHAT:
According to their website, here's a brief synopsis of their history: " In 1907 Chicago author Hamlin Garland and friends founded the Attic Club, which two years later was re-named The Cliff Dwellers. Now, as then, it is a private club and functions as a non-profit organization for men and women either professionally engaged in, or who support, the fine arts and the performing arts.
Since its 1996 move from atop Symphony Center (formerly Orchestra Hall) next door, all the facilities of The Cliff Dwellers Club are located in the 22nd floor penthouse of the office building at the southwest corner of Michigan Avenue at Adams Street. Its lakefront facilities overlook Millennium Park and the Art Institute of Chicago."
WHO:
This private social club (and non-profit organization) primarily serves individuals in the arts community or those who have a serious interest in the arts.
