"I love the twisty slide and climbing bars," Parker, age 5

    What we loved:

    • The splash pad!
    • The convenient amenities - public restroom, cement bench, picnic tables with canopies, trash can, etc.
    • The climbing structure at the playground.

    What we would have loved:

    • Cooler Astroturf (It gets hot!)
    • More parking.

The Wilma Loar Splash Pad and playground located in Belleview, FL, is a double whammy!

    Why?

Similar to the nearby Marion Oaks Community Center, it has both a splash pad AND a playground.

We tend to visit around 10:00 am when it's slightly cooler and less crowded.

We also love the playground but note that it sits on AstroTurf and heats up throughout the day. (It hurt our bare feet.)

Kids have a blast at the clean, modern splash pad featuring a mushroom waterfall-type structure in the center and squirting fountains all around. They also gravitate towards the circular frog with jets.

Although the splash pad runs on its own for a while, it does stop now and then, so kids must press a button for it to continue.

Other perks: There are public restrooms on-site and canopied picnic tables to protect you from the sun.

Visitors can also rest on the cement-like bench surrounding the splash pad, and the base of the splash pad has a rough texture that prevents falls.

This Belleview playground has many great features, including

    • Exuberant colors
    • a prominent climbing structure
    • Lots of steps
    • Swings
    • Uneven bars
    • Slides
    • Climbing ladders
    • Curved monkey bars
    • And more.

    Other highlights:

    • When we were there, a Kona ice truck stopped in the neighborhood and helped us with the Florida summer heat.
    • In addition to the splash pad and playground, there's a circular walking path with exercise equipment. So after the playground and splash pad, you can work up even more of a sweat.

    The Lowdown

The Wilma Loar splash pad and playground in Belleview is a great place to spend a chunk of the day where you can bring snacks or a lunch and hang out and meet other parents.

We love to go here because it has a fun playground AND water! Kids can start on the playground, get super hot, and cool off on the splash pad.

My three and five-year-old boys always have a good time at Wilma Loar Park. We hope to see you there soon!
