Hey, y'all! Looking for BBQ in Kansas City? You should - and for good reason! The "Heart of America" is home to some of the nation's best BBQ! These are the Top Five BBQ Spots In Kansas City Ranked, as per Yelp. Do you see your favorite on the list? If not, tell me in the comments: what's your go-to spot for BBQ in Kansas City?
1. Q39 Midtown
Address: 1000 W 39th St Kansas City, MO 64111
Phone: (816) 255-3753
The original location of Q39 is in Kansas City’s Midtown, nestled between the historic Westport neighborhood and the vibrant Crossroads Arts District. 39th Street is the heart of Midtown and home to a variety of locally-owned shops and restaurants. Q39 Midtown features a rustic-urban style and some of the best BBQ in the city! You'll love the Mr. Burns sandwich (cubed burnt ends, chipotle bbq sauce, pepper jack cheese, onion straws, toasted bun), the Pit Master Brisket sandwich (classic bbq sauce, provolone, onion straws, toasted bun), and the Smoked Beef Brisket Poutine (crispy fries, beef brisket gravy, chopped brisket, white cheddar cheese curds, classic bbq sauce, chives).
"The Original Gas Station Restaurant" was established in 1996. The location? A gas station at the corner of 47th & Mission in Kansas City, Kansas. The only thing more charming than the restaurant itself is their finger-lickin' good BBQ. Try the Rocket Pig (Joe's pulled pork tossed in a sweet-hot competition BBQ glaze, bacon, pepper jack cheese, BBQ mayo, fried jalapenos), the Smokie Joe (chopped smoked beef and pork, barbecue sauce, bun), or the Hogamaniac (two ribs, pulled pork, sausage).
Address: 101 W 22nd St Ste 300 Kansas City, MO 64108
Phone: (816) 472-7427
Jack Stack claims to "Put Remarkable BBQ On The Map" -- and they do just that! Order the pulled pork mac and cheese (pulled pork, mac and cheese, honey chipotle), barbecue stuffed potato (pulled pork/chopped burnt ends/smoked turkey, cheddar cheese, sour cream, butter, green onions), or the ribs (beef, lamb, honey-glazed).
Slap’s BBQ (Squeal Like a Pig) opened in June of 2014 and started with just a few hundred pounds of meat. After running out within a few hours, they knew Slap’s was going to be a major success. To undersate: it was! Those that dine at Slap's love their brisket, jalapeno cheddar sausage, and chicken leg quarters. Also, don't miss their Taco Tuesday special (deep-fried burnt ends, peppers, onions, cilantro, Slaps special taco sauce)!
Arthur Bryant's Barbeque features succulent meat that's slow-smoked with a combination of hickory and oak woods, mellowed to the peak of flavor, then splashed with their Arthur Bryant's Original or Rich & Spicy Sauce – a secret recipe. You'll drool over the open-faced Burnt Ends sandwich, half chicken, baby back ribs, and their classic pulled pork!
