In the last decade, more than 100,000 people have moved to Denver. Denver is quickly becoming one of the most popular cities in the country. Are you thinking of moving to Denver? You should probably know which neighborhoods to avoid, and which ones to seek out. Certain areas of Denver can be dangerous, but if you're planning it right, your life in Denver can be totally safe!

Here are Denver's 5 safest neighborhoods, according to Denver police statistics!

    Number 5: Washington Park

Washington Park is one of Denver's least overloaded neighborhoods. With low population density, less than 15,000 residents, and the lowest violent crime on this list, Washington Park is a great place to settle down!

This neighborhood also includes a park by the same name, with 155 Acres of room to roam. There are two major flower gardens, one of which is modeled after George Washington's Garden at Mount Vernon. The unemployment rate is very low at 2.2%, and the median income is almost 105,000 per year!

    Number 4: University

Directly across I-70 from Washington Park, University is a beautiful, well-foliaged neighborhood with tons of young people and a lot of great things to do. There are Bohemian coffee houses, tap rooms, and restaurants frequented by students.

Observatory park in University has the red Sandstone Chamberlin Observatory, which hosts stargazing events frequently. Stargazing in the middle of the city! There are also Jazz and classical concerts hosted at the Newman Center for the Performing Arts. University is a great neighborhood if you like being able to walk to live music and you love being around other young people, especially students.

University rings in as safer than Washington Park because they have a lower rate of property crime. Your home is safer here than across the highway!

    Number 3: Green Valley Ranch

    Google Maps

Green Valley Ranch is out on the fringes on the way to the airport, so it is a bit safer by default. It's about 11 miles outside of the center of Denver, so it is a bit more suburban if that's what you're looking for! This fine neighborhood includes golf courses and brand new homes, but you're not going to get that in-city feel if that's what you want!

Green Valley Ranch has half the property crime of the University or Washington Park area, although violent crimes are a little bit higher per hundred thousand people. The total population is 35,927.

It's much more spread out, but it's easy to hop a train to the city!

    Number 2: Lodo

    Google Maps

Lodo (standing for lower downtown) is one of my favorite neighborhoods in the country! This bustling urban paradise is made up of old buildings, beautiful train stations, trendy restaurants, and has a close proximity to the Denver stadiums. Looking to walk to sporting events? Lodo is perfect. Want to hop a train into the mountains? Lodo's got you!

As a bonus, Lodo also has Commons and Confluence Parks, two fantastic green areas on the river, where you can bring a dog and play all day.

With a very low rate of property crime, and a rate of violent crime that's almost as low as University, Lodo is a great place to hang your hat.

    Number 1: Golden Triangle

    Google Maps

One of downtown Denver's smallest neighborhoods, with only 1900 people, Golden Triangle is right in the middle of downtown. It's walking distance to the art museum, the Civic Center, Civic Center Park, and most anything else that downtown Denver has to offer.

Golden Triangle Rings in as Denver's safest neighborhood, with violent crimes per 100,000 at 300, and property crimes per 100,000 at 1400.
