EXCLUSIVE: Rachel Roy is Bringing Her California Cool to New Jewelry Collection

    2021-06-29

Rachel Roy's iconic California style is now part of a JTV jewelry collection.

The new Rachel Roy Jewelry collection at JTV features the star designer's vivacious and unexpected color combinations that celebrate rich California dreams at Everytown, USA prices. The collection, which includes a bevy of earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and rings, riff off Roy's own travels, experiences, and adventures around the world. She mixes citrine, blue topaz, cultured pearls, amethyst, and chrome diopside – each set in luxurious 18K gold over sterling silver or 18K gold over brass.

"I think the best collections I’ve ever designed are the ones that I would buy myself, which is what I was able to do with JTV with every single design because of their years of experience and expertise in this field," Roy, a Seaside, California resident, shares with NewsBreak exclusively. "The collection is meant to remind us how beautiful life and nature are, and serve as a tribute to the beauty it is creating for us on a daily basis."

The collection draws on Rachel's own idea of mixing, matching, layering and gasp— not matching at all. It's a refreshing departure from a seemingly endless world of matchy-matchy muted tones filling store racks and advertisements.

"My signature touches include the mixing of materials and layering of colors like I see in nature. This concept is similar to the way a sunset changes every few seconds," she says, adding that, "Gemstones each have their own stories, which is quite like us in many ways. The idea that this small stone came from the middle of an African mountain or a Russian hillside thousands or hundreds of years ago sounds like it came from a dream. It is also a lesson in patience considering how long they take to form. Nature is the world’s best designer, but only if you are still and willing to listen and observe. I am a history lover, so I love learning about the history of the stones, who used them, how they used them, what colors they liked and why. I wrap all of that up into my designs."

What may be most surprising to Roy's fans though, is that this collection pays distinct homage to American landscapes and nature. Roy says her shimmering Prasiolite Ring was designed while visiting Yellowstone National Park, and the surrounding white zircon stones are representative of the "snow-capped Grand Teton mountains."

This flashy statement ring in particular seems to be an incredibly sentimental piece from the collection, and sort of an incredible value at roughly $150.

"The calm, clear, and brilliant prasiolite center stone represents Jenny Lake, a most stunning and soothing lake named after an English mountain man’s Native American wife. The citrine rim was inspired by the sun chasing the great waterfall at Artist Point. My wish was to create an elegant and divine piece of jewelry that made me feel as happy as those spots in nature make me feel. Needless to say, it is one of my favorite pieces!"

Jenny Lake, a well-kept secret in Wyoming, was hardly the only local inspiration point for the collection that screams for the best of vintage cocktail parties, dressed-up events, and glam moments of a bygone era. The entire coast of California, and the cultures within its Pacific range, helped Rachel create her global-feeling designs.

"There are so many pieces from my collection at JTV that are exactly what I’d always wanted, but never thought I could justify an expensive price for. This is why I was amazed by the craftsmanship, natural gemstones but also the final prices Jewelry television was able to offer! Inclusive designs for all that want them is something that is very important to me— and always has been."
