Every year CNBC releases its annual rankings to determine which state among the 50 states of the United States is the perfect environment for an efficient business. This year also they released a report which ranked Virginia top and North Carolina being at second place.

CNBC discovers the ranking based on the performance of the states in terms of attracting and fostering business ownership and operations.

Bifurcating the scores of 50 states on more than 80 metrics, they categorize the ranking from access to capital to cost of business and living. CNBC tries to improve its methodology of ranking every year.
