Omaha authorities issue felony child abuse warrant for Elkhorn South band director

(OMAHA, Neb.) On Monday, Omaha authorities issued an arrest warrant following an investigation into an inappropriate relationship between an Elkhorn South High School band teacher and student, KETV Omaha reported.

According to reports, the felony child abuse warrant stemming from an investigation that began in June was issued for ESHS band director Michelle Buford.

Buford, who has been employed with the Elkhorn school district for over two decades, is expected to surrender herself to authorities on Tuesday.

"Elkhorn Public Schools is aware of the issuance of an arrest warrant for Michelle Bluford, and we continue to cooperate with the Douglas County Sheriff’s office in their investigation," ESHS said in a statement. "At this time, this remains an ongoing personnel matter. Pursuant to state law, we are unable to respond to questions or provide additional information."
