Lake County, CO - Lake County, Colorado's highest incorporated city offers some wonderful camping near stunning alpine peaks and lakes. There are numerous cool campgrounds and dispersed camping areas between Leadville and Twin Lakes, at 10,152 feet.

Within the San Isabel National Forest, which surrounds these two mountain communities, there is unlimited recreation. You'll have a wonderful time visiting the Leadville area, from the ghost villages of Clear Creek Canyon to the dazzling blue waters of Turquoise Lake.

Here are some campgrounds you have to visit:

    • Leadville RV Corral
The Leadville RV Corral, located in downtown Leadville, is the ideal spot to rest your head after a day of adventure in Colorado's highest town. This RV park is adjacent to all of the spectacular natural beauty that makes Leadville so famous, with full-hookup sites and a great location.

    • Crescent Mining Camp
Crescent Mining Camp is home to a historic cabin that was once used by gold miners. Despite the lack of amenities (you'll need to bring your own sleeping bags) a visit to this campsite is worthwhile for the experience alone.

    • Sugar Loafin’ Campground
One of the largest full-hookup RV parks and campgrounds in the area is Sugar Loafin' Campground. This campground should be your first choice if you require all of the comforts of home, including showers and laundry facilities.

    • Matchless Campground
Turquoise Lake has many options for those who wish to enjoy the waters, and Matchless Campground is one of the closest to Leadville. Matchless is an easy choice for a lovely overnight stay, with lake access nearby and big pull-thru campsites.

Those are some campgrounds you can visit in Leadville, happy camping!

Just please clean up after yourself if you decide to camp up here. I can't even count how much trash I've had to clean at campsites here. Remember, we live here and appreciate our surrounding areas.
