    Things to see: Oklahoma Veterans Memorial in Shawnee

    The Oklahoma Veterans Memorial, at 407 N. Broadway in Shawnee, is on the southwest corner of Woodland Veterans Park. Names of veterans are engraved on brick pavers, purchased by donors, that form a walkway in the shape of a five-pointed star, with each point representing one branch of the military. The park is a place of solitude and reflection where one can remember those who are serving our country or have served in the past. Read more

    Lake Committee Created, Nikaho Delegates Presented

    Shawnee City Commission met the 2021 Sister City delegation and unanimously voted to approve a resolution to establish the Lake Advisory Committee Monday, Aug. 16. Student delegates included Alexander Monge, Braden Hibler, CJ Stephens, Elizabeth Jones, Hadley Dyer, and Kiera Jones from Grove School and Kelly Templeton from Shawnee Middle School. Adult delegate Norma Neely from Horace-Mann said they hope to make the trip to Nikaho, Japan next year. If this is the case, the 2021 group will join the 2022 delegates. Read more
