This weekend you can come out and enjoy one of the top Fine Arts & Design Festivals in the nation at Rochester Municipal Park. For three days, September 10-12, there will be over 200 Fine Artisans, Make & Take Art activities, live performances, and tons of food will be scattered around the park.

For over 55 years, the Art & Apples Festival has provided creative family fun for the neighborhood. And this year is no exception! Come out for the beautiful artwork of the talented artists, the sights and sound of musical acts on the DTE Foundation Main Stage, delicious food, fresh apple treats, cider, and donuts, and the fun, creative energy in the Meijer Kids Art Zone and Creation Station.

What is there to do at the Arts & Apples Festival?

In the Creation Station, you will see how it’s made, from glass blowing, drawing, painting to ceramic wheel-throwing demonstrations. The kiddos will have tons of kid-friendly activities, including free art projects, bounce houses, face paintings, and so much more. For the hungry ones, there will be food vendors scattered around the park. You will find Frick’n Good Cookies, Olde Tyme Poppin’ Korn, Motown Bistro, Island Noodles, Giordano’s Wood Fired Pizza, and much more.

The artist’s booths will be all over the park, and walking among the booths is as fun as finding the perfect artwork to add to your home. There will be 2D and 3D Mixed Media artists, clay, ceramics, digital art, drawing, fibers (non-wearing and wearing), glass, metal jewelry, non-metal jewelry, leather, metalsmithing, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and wood artists.

The Festival hours are Friday, Sept. 10 from 2 to 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 11 from 9 to 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 12 from 9 to 4 p.m. Where to park? There will be a shuttle from the Rochester High School at 1361 Walton Blvd to Gate 3 on Saturday from 9 to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 9 to 4:30 p.m. There is also paid parking at the West Parking Deck on Walnut Blvd throughout the weekend.

The Arts & Apples Festival is a program for Paint Creek Center of the Arts, a nonprofit art center located in downtown Rochester that annually offers more than 300 educational art classes and workshops. I, myself, have signed up to do a few of these classes over the years. Do you support the Arts?
