    (CHICAGO) Welcome to the daily roundup on Friday, December 3rd

    Let's take a look at what's happening in the news today.

    First off, Gov. Pritzker says due to the Omicron variant and rising numbers, he has no plans to lift the state-wide mask mandate. Also, Chicago has been experiencing some unseasonably warm weather and a suburban Chicago homeowner has a creative idea for his outdoor Christmas decorations.

    Pritzker says Illinois mask mandate to stay in place amid rising COVID numbers

    Due to the Omicron variant and rising numbers in the state, don't expect the mask mandate to be lifted anytime soon.

    "We have an indoor mask requirement in the state of Illinois and we're not lifting that, especially not now," Pritzker said.

    Cook County health officials are recommending if you are not fully vaccinated, don't travel for the holidays this month.

    Chicagoans enjoy unseasonably warm December day in Chicago

    The weather has been unusually warm for this time of year, with Thursday reaching nearly 60 degrees. It seems everyone in Chicago went outside to enjoy it, with running paths and bike routes very crowded for a December day.

    Tony Brooks told Fox32 Chicago, "It’s the last time we’re going to be able to play golf this year. Last year, we played just before this weekend, but it was another one of these freak things."
