Mi Vecino has a mission, and it's possible to feel their positive energy and determination in the Tweets and their website.

The grassroots Florida nonprofit is registering and empowering black, brown, and other minorities. They have a goal for December 2021 of 1500 first-time voter registrants. Its main focus is first-time voters and giving people the tools to help themselves.

By building on the organizing power demonstrated by Stacy Abrams - a voting rights activist, Mi Vecino will serve disadvantaged communities lacking resources, create opportunities, and improve the representation of residents.

Our voice and our vote are powerful! Mi Vecino Florida

The group aims to equip everyone with voting education and access. And they are hiring to make sure they achieve their goals! Details from the Mi Vecino website are as follows:

Mi Vecino is hiring Organizers and Canvassers (starting at $18hr) to help us empower communities of color by building their political power through voter registration and vote-by-mail enrollment programs.

Are you the right person for the job?

Field Organizers: will be responsible for recruiting volunteers, organizing events, training and managing canvassers, & quality control of all voter registration & vote-by-mail forms. The role is full-time at 40 hours a week.

Voter Registration Canvasser: will be responsible for voter registration and vote-by-mail engagement. Canvassers should possess strong people skills. No experience is necessary. The role is part-time at 20-30 hours a week.

In April 2021, Mi Vecino announced:

Stacy Abrahams stated in a video interview :

Voting rights serve as the conduit through which all other change is made possible.

Abrams may have lost the 2018 race for the Georgia governorship; however, her Fair Fight work against voter suppression and her ability to energize progressives and previously powerless minorities prompted Joe Biden to invest in Georgia and helped him win the 2020 election.

Earlier this month, Abrams announced she was running for governor of Georgia again.

Listed by Time as one of the world's 100 most influential people of 2021.

... alongside a diverse coalition of organizers and volunteers, she spent years working to transform and empower the Georgia electorate. That work resulted in record voter turnout in recent elections. Thank you, Stacey, for all that you have done. Harry Belafonte

Since founders Alex Berrios and Devon Murphy-Anderson launched Mi Vecino, it became the voter registration leader in FL in its first month. They raised $400,000 in donations, and on December 15th, they picked up the keys to their 6th regional office in Miami!

If you want to help build community power and have a few dollars to spare, you can donate to Mi Vecino Florida here. You'll be empowering:

"Florida's diverse Hispanic communities by providing secure, well-paying jobs to community members to organize themselves and build their own political power through voter registration and vote-by-mail enrollment programs." Mi Vecino
