Workshops and Seminars at the Northwest Flower & Garden Festival

Take full advantage of the cost of a ticket to the Northwest Flower & Garden Festival by taking part in a hands on workshop and attending how-to seminars. While it isn’t difficult to spend hours just wandering around the displays, there’s a lot more being offered to justify the time and expense of attending.

Dozens of seminars will be offered every day of the show on a wide and varied array of topics. Most of them are one hour long and they’re all free to attend – the cost is included in your ticket. See the full schedule here.

Unlike workshops, seminars are not hands on, but many are classified as “See it, Learn it, Do it” and you’ll come away with practical tips and steps. At the end of the day, and for several months afterward, you can go into the show website and download a sheet of pro tips created by the seminar host in case you didn’t make any notes. The pro tips are free.

Seminars include creating a butterfly garden, how to prune trees and shrubs, attracting mason bees for pollination, how to make flower seed paper, growing houseplants, irrigation, growing orchids, flower arranging, growing succulents, and fertilizers.

Blooms & Bubbles hands on workshops are a popular feature of the festival. Led by noted designers, they include all of the materials and instructions you need to create a project to take home, and a glass of champagne (a non-alcoholic option is available). The cost of the workshop also includes the price of admission, so you don’t have to pay separately for a ticket for the day.

Workshops that are still available include making a botanical wreath, flower crowns for adults and kids, making tiny bouquets, and floral wearables. The workshops tend to sell out.
