Coroner Investigates after Body Discovered at Ohio Meijer Store

A tragic discovery at a Maumee, Ohio Meijer store shut the store down for several hours on Thursday.

Just after 5 am Maumee Police and Fire received a call about an unconscious man at the Meijer grocery store on Conant Street. Medics responded to the scene and attempted life-saving measures but they were unable to revive the man, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ohio Father Forced to Call 911 After Child Shot

Employees identified the man as a fellow employee, Casey Ian Smith, 41. The store was shut down for about four hours before reopening to the public.

Tainted Candy Sold in Ohio Recalled

The Lucas County Coroner's office is investigating the death. At this time, there is nothing suspicious about the circumstances of the death.
