There is an investigation underway into what led to the shooting death of an Indiana mother inside her apartment.

Kendra Berry, 35, was identified as the victim.

It appears the shooting was an accident, according to several friends and family members. However, the police are not confirming that claim and said they are still investigating the death.

Multiple children were inside the home at the time of the killing, along with the gun that is suspected of having been used.

The gun was found in the same room as the deceased. It appeared that there had been no disturbance. No signs of forced entry were found. Authorities found no evidence of criminal activity.

Police would not confirm who fired the shot, only stating that they were not looking for a suspect. Friends and family of Berry claim it was an unfortunate accident.

Authorities are confident that the community is not at risk at this time.
