A fatal garage fire in smalltown Michigan has claimed the life of a 12-year-old Malaki Christian Giles.

According to a report from the MCSO, officers and the township fire department got the report of a structure fire with a child trapped inside at 1:30 am Monday.

Fire responders were immediately dispatched to the scene on W. Walnut Street but found the detached garage already fully engulfed in flames with the child trapped inside.

The child's father and older brother were attempting to get into the garage to save the boy. Once firefighters were able to get inside, they found the body of the child in the garage's bathroom.
