Staycations (taking a holiday close to home) have exploded in popularity since the pandemic started. Even as the world opens up, a recent poll indicates that inflation and rising costs have more Americans thinking about traveling locally in 2022.

Texas residents are in luck because a new development 10-minutes from downtown Waco will allow them to relax in style.

Live Oak Lake’s website bills the 5-acre property as having “seven stunning cabins nestled in the heart of Texas.”

The area didn’t always look so idyllic. A few years ago, this was overgrown land. But developer, Issac French, reports seeing the beautiful 200-year-old oak trees and natural pond and knowing it would make an ideal getaway spot.

French kept much of the area's natural beauty, but cleaned and expanded the pond and added paved roads to make it more accessible.

Then he built beautiful A-Frame cabins that seem right at home in the natural space. While these structures aren't common in Texas, French was inspired by his time spent in the Pacific Northwest and wanted to offer locals something new.

The minimalist design has high ceilings and an entire wall of windows to provide a stunning view of the property. The interior design, characterized by Scandinavian and Japanese influences, features clean lines, neutral colors, and luxurious finishes. The design complements the cabin style perfectly.

The website describes the cabins’ look and feel as “cozy meets luxury.”

Each cabin has a hot tub, a fire pit, and kayaks available for rent. The common area features a pergola with a grill for outdoor dining, hammocks, and a fishing dock. Some of the cabins even allow dogs.

It’s the ultimate country getaway close to downtown.

The only issue for those looking for a prime holiday spot is that the properties book out months in advance. French says the site’s popularity has “exceeded all projections.” So you better hurry if you want to book it for a Fall getaway.
