What happened in this reverse shark rescue?

When you hear "shark rescue," you usually think of people being rescued away from sharks however, this was the opposite and it was caught on video.

A shark washed ashore Huntington Beach, California and a good samaritan carried it back to sea.

As onlookers watched, you can see the man jogging to deeper sea waters to return the shark to the ocean. In the video, it appears that he spent at least several minutes trying to introduce the shark back to the water.

Did it work?

According to the video caption, sadly, it did not...

The Tik Tok caption read:

Simone caught a shark at the pier. Sadly the thrasher died. Fake blood nobody was harmed...

As the video ends, you can see the man holding the sharp by the fin, still attempting to get it to swim away before realizing that it died and carrying it back to shore.

Many commenters from the video thanked the man for trying to save the shark.
