This Chicago neighborhood was ranked 5th best place to live in the U.S.

    2022-10-17

Rogers Park was the only Chicago neighborhood, and one of only two Illinois locations, to make Money.com's list of the top 50 places to live in the nation. Coming in at sixteen is the suburb of Naperville.

(CHICAGO) Affordable housing, a college-town feel, and diversity helped Rogers Park make Money.com's list of the top 50 places to live in the U.S. Not to mention Roger Park's accessible beaches and ample green space at Loyola Park.

"Few places are as welcoming to different religions, creeds or ethnicities as Rogers Park, an underdog neighborhood located in the northeast corner of Chicago," according to Money.com

Though just ten miles from downtown, thanks to Loyola University the Chicago neighborhood has a college-town atmosphere. The university is one of the nation's largest Jesuit Catholic universities.

The U.S. cities that came ahead of Rogers Park on the list are:

    1. Atlanta
    2. Tempe, Arizona
    3. Kirkland, Washington
    4. Raleigh, North Carolina

    Naperville is ranked 16th

The only other Illinois location to make it in the top 50 for Money's list is the Chicago suburb of Naperville coming in at number sixteen. "Families hoping to give their children a safe, nurturing and economically robust environment to grow up will find Naperville is a competitive option."

Chicago is the Best Big City in the U.S.

The windy city has had other good news recently. Chicago was recently voted as the "#1 Best Big City in the U.S." for the sixth year in a row in a survey conducted by Condé Nast Traveler.

“There are so many reasons why Chicago is the Best Big City in the U.S. — we have world-class restaurants; top-tier hotels and meeting spaces; cultural institutions and entertainment venues that can rival the best in the world; and vibrant, diverse neighborhoods that make sure there is something for every visitor,” said Chicago Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot in a press release. “Most importantly, our city is full of people and organizations that care deeply and work tirelessly to make Chicago the most welcoming and inviting city in the world. I want to thank the tourism and hospitality professionals that make this award possible year after year and the millions of visitors that keep coming back to Chicago to explore everything our city has to offer.”
