Enjoying These Fun Downtown Marietta Activities Is Easier Thanks to City's Parking Map

    2022-12-17

We love visiting downtown Marietta and the surrounding area for the Holidays and year-round. In fact, it's one of our favorite starting points for walking the Mountain-to-River trail and other meandering we do as exercise.

Now, a new parking map makes helps to find a free or paid parking space, making trips easier and more convenient eliminating time wasted in search of an elusive spot.

What's amazing is that Marietta boasts 3,237 downtown parking spaces. That includes three decks with 1,520 spaces, 336 on-street spaces, and 1,381 spaces within 26 private lots. Since November 2018, 497 newly available parking spaces have been added to the downtown area for public use.

    Activities After You Park

Of course, you already know that downtown offers a plethora of restaurants, dessert and treat stops, shopping and more. Here are a few of our favorite suggestions for a more active visit to downtown Marietta:

Cycling or Strolling: The Mountain to River trails runs along the railroad tracks near downtown, and is a perfect launching pad for a short or long walk. The path is shared with bicycles, which are more prevalent away from downtown.

Marietta Square Market Food Hall: We love making a stop here after a walk or bike ride to sample the ever-changing array of foods and treats. Among our favorites are the Korean bowl-style offerings, Cuban sandwiches, sushi, and barbeque. Of course, we always add ice cream or baked goods to reward our active visits.

Museum Meandering: We discovered many of Marietta’s marvelous museums by plotting them on a GPS, then walking to each. That means you park only once. Generally, you can make a day of it by visiting two museums and grabbing lunch downtown.

Fire Museum: When we want to tempt the grandsons to join in, the Marietta Fire Museum is our stop of choice. We find a parking space downtown, the walk to and then through the free museum with boys in tow. Their reward generally is a stop at a downtown ice cream shop.
