He is handling the city’s lawsuit along with attorney Steve Dever.The two sides are exploring the health needs of the community surrounding the medical center, now renamed UH Bedford Outpatient Campus, and determining which medical services would meet those needs, Marvar said.“The parties are working to ensure that the right complement of medical services are provided by UH at the outpatient campus,” Marvar said. “The parties are cautiously optimistic that this matter will resolve in a way that meets the medical needs of citizens of the city of Bedford.”UH, in a statement, said: “We remain committed to the Bedford community and its health and well-being, and remind patients in the area that they are still able to see their physicians for appointments at the medical office buildings on-site.”UH nurses and other staff at <a href="https://www.uhhospitals.org/locations/uh-bedford-medical-center">UH Bedford Outpatient Campus</a> are listening to residents’ suggestions for what they would like to see at the campus, Marvar said.UH Bedford Outpatient Campus is not expected to reopen as a full-service hospital, no matter the lawsuit’s result, lawyers said.Inpatient, surgery, and emergency room services ended at UH Bedford in August. <a href="https://www.cleveland.com/news/2022/08/judge-rejects-bedfords-attempt-to-keep-community-hospital-open.html">Bedford Mayor Stan Koci opposed the closure,</a> citing increased drive time to other hospital emergency departments, and filed suit.In August, Gall rejected Bedford’s motion seeking a restraining order to legally prevent the closing.UH Bedford Outpatient Campus has remained open for outpatient primary care and preventive medical services. Geriatric medicine, heart and vascular services and ophthalmology services.When UH announced changes at UH Bedford, it also said new programs and services focusing on wellness and safety, maternal and child health, food security and workforce development were coming to the facility.Those wellness programs are expected to start this year, a spokesman said Wednesday.UH also reduced in-patient services at UH Richmond Heights last year, and renamed the former hospital the UH Richmond Heights Outpatient Campus.
