Taxpayers who e-filed can check the status of their refund after 24 hours have passed. For those who filed on paper, they must wait four weeks before checking the status of their refund.

IRS updates on tax return statuses usually occur between midnight and 6:00 a.m.. Therefore, it should be noted that the IRS updates the refund status only once a day.
