    Floridians elected a conservative supermajority.

And things are rapidly turning to the right of the political spectrum. Governor Ron DeSantis and the Republican-controlled Legislature are zeroing in on a new target. Municipal and county governments are now under fire, following schools, universities, and sports events.

The Florida Legislature's two-month session is scheduled to start on March 7. Preparations are being made to increase partisanship in local elections, limit investments in cities and counties, eliminate some community regulations, and enact laws that benefit business and development interests, longtime backers of the Florida Republican Party.

Soon after the session's anticipated conclusion in early May, DeSantis is expected to make his candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination official. Additionally, GOP leaders in the state Senate and House seem ready to pass legislation enhancing his standing among the party's conservative voting base.

    DeSantis is Coming for You

The governor and GOP legislators appear to be working toward making the entire state more Republican.

DeSantis' stance on transgender athletes, parental rights, and his desire to squash everything he perceives as "woke" practices in business and academia has already won lawmakers' support.

The Legislature also increased its authority to deport illegal immigrants, penalize illegal voters, and fine Walt Disney Co. for speaking their minds publically last year.

Currently, DeSantis and Republican supermajorities may be considering growing that far-right imprint, particularly in Florida cities. And the state government's and school boards' roles were essentially the initial focus of these efforts.

Florida towns and counties often avoid looking openly partisan, which is changing. You can't openly voice your disagreement with the Florida policymakers without risking the government running your private life and business. So you either have to openly support DeSantis or shut up.

DeSantis showed that nobody is too big for his wrath when he took down Disney, the largest employer in Florida. The move will cost taxpayers money and jobs, but it seems like Floridians are rallying behind these measures.

What do you think about Florida moving to the far right?

So letting transgender men play in woman's sports is ok? This coming from the party of science. When will understand that most Americans don't agree with your far left idiology? This was a terrible piece of propaganda written by an ideologue clearly stating an opinion. Far from journalism, and the indoctrinated that have not had an independent thought in their entire life are posting blue heart emoticons. You have no tolerance, you have an agenda and I promise you it will not come at the expense of my daughters happiness, I will run for school board and other office and put an end to your madness.
