A Colorado witness at Denver recalled an encounter with a fireball-like object the shape of a basketball at 6:30 p.m. on November 1, 1954, according to testimony from the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC).

The report indicates that the witness was about 12 years old when the case occurred. No one was told about the incident because the witness thought, due to the young age, no one would believe the account. The incident date is approximate.

The witness lived in a hotel in downtown Denver and had stayed overnight at a friend’s house and had eaten supper with his family.

“When I headed for home, I had to walk past the city and county building,” the reporting witness stated. “It looked like it was going to snow as the clouds were really thick and hanging low.”

As the witness walked across at the red light by the city and county building, the object was seen.

“All of sudden out of the clouds came a fireball shaped like a basketball. It appeared for several seconds and then went back into the clouds. I thought it was so odd because it was so cloudy.”

The witness now wonders if there were other witnesses.

The report included no images, filed on May 30, 2001. Denver is the capital of Colorado, population 715,522. Witness quotes were edited for clarity.
