The GOP in Shock as Trump Supporters Left Barred from DeSantis Book Event

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was labeled a "tyrant" after Trump supporters were blocked from a book signing event.

The book of DeSantis, "Courage to Be Free," was released on Tuesday.

Far-right activist Laura Loomer said police showed up and told them they would be cited and arrested for trespassing if they did not leave. DeSantis did not want Trump supporters inside.

Loomer, a right-wing political commentator, took a swing at DeSantis.

"Ron DeSantis is anti-free speech. It's one of the reasons why I don’t support him and why I'll never support him," Loomer said. "And if he's a Republican nominee, I simply won't vote."

In a video posted by Loomer, a uniformed officer said he was told to "say anybody wearing Trump has to go."

"DeSantis people are in there telling me to come out to tell you guys not to be here while he's here," the officer said.

Despite not officially announcing his bid, DeSantis is still Trump's only serious rival in the polls for the 2024 presidential nomination. He's also making all the preparations to launch a serious campaign if he chooses to run this time.

He has established a formidable national profile by pursuing extreme culture-war policies, including prohibiting books in schools and limiting the teaching of LGBTQ+ issues.

According to Lloyd Green of the Guardian, who wrote a review on DeSantis' book, "It's all about bowing and scraping," The Florida governor does not criticize Trump on the page. Yet Trump has criticized DeSantis, calling him derogatory names.

Trump denies calling Desantis a "meatball Ron" and also denies mocking his Italian heritage and body weight. However, Trump is doubling down on the moniker Ron DeSanctimonious, trying to showcase "the hypocritical nature" of the Florida governor.
