From cheering on the Portland Seadogs baseball team to exploring the Children's Museum and Theater, there is something for everyone. Take a trip to Calendar Island, enjoy a sailing experience, or challenge your problem-solving skills in an escape room. Children's Museum and Theatre of Maine (CMTM)
This is one of the best places to visit as a whole family, including small kids. Its original location next to the Portland Museum of Arts was breathtaking, but the new location at Thompson’s Point is now open for family fun. It’s just around the corner from the International Cryptozoology Museum.
Your kids are bound to enjoy themselves in a section with a 25-foot fire truck, lobster boat, and discovery woods. The museum also boasts a theater on the lower level that showcases scheduled shows. Your family will enjoy a treat from excellent puppeteers.
Now open Mondays from 10 am to 1 pm for members only. Wednesday to Sunday from 9 am to 4 pm for everyone. Admission is $15, and seniors get a $2 discount.
Escape Room
If you are looking for indoor fun activities, the Escape Room is your best option when in Portland. The Escape Room offers different rooms, with some like the Butcher’s Basement, not recommended for children.
Other rooms like the Pharaoh’s Tomb, London Blitz, The Lost City of the Jaguar King, and the Copperhead Saloon are good choices for you and your family. To get a chance at adventure in these rooms, you need to book early due to the influx of people.
Closed on Monday & Tuesday; Open Wednesday & Thursday from 12 pm to 8:30 pm; Friday from 12:00 am to 9:45 pm; Saturday from 11:00 am to 10:15 pm; and Sunday from 11:30 am - 7:45 pm.

Portland Head Lighthouse
This is probably the symbol of Portland. The city is famous for the Portland Head Light located at Fort Williams Park on Cape Elizabeth. The lighthouse provides one of the most beautiful views you and your family can enjoy.

Portland Sea Dogs

With affordable tickets ranging from $8 for general admissions, these minor league games can help you and your family bond over a game. The minor league usually runs from April to September, which makes it perfect for your summer visit.
Calendar Island Sailing
If you are looking to have the sea experience before leaving Maine, you can visit the On the Wind Sailing website or Calendar Islands Sailing Company to book your adventure.
