Disney leaves Florida Governor Ron DeSantis scrambling after winning yet another legal battle in Florida.

Even though DeSantis has announced how Florida is where "woke" goes to die, his outlandish campaigns against Florida's biggest "woke" employer are falling short of what's promised.

DeSantis actions have been nothing more than hot air so far.

A losing battle or stunning incompetence?

Disney has outwitted Ron DeSantis in the ongoing struggle for control over the 24,000-acre Reedy Creek zone, which houses Walt Disney World Resort. The company secured a 30-year plan covering zoning, infrastructure, and air rights in February, circumventing the authority of a new board appointed by DeSantis.

The new board, tasked with stripping Disney's control over the special tax district, has hired outside attorneys to review and potentially nullify the plan. DeSantis' spokesperson stated that the agreements might be legally void and that multiple financial and legal firms are investigating Disney's actions.

The real question is how DeSantis is failing to see these moves. Disney is not hiding their moves. And it seems like the Republican leaders just don'tcheck up on Disney's plans before barging in and trying to cease control.

“Disney didn’t do anything secret. They publicized it, they advertised it,” says a former Republican legislator, Juan-Carlos Planas. “If you’re in Tallahassee, and you’re replacing the board, how do you not know what that board is doing in their public meeting? This was negligence on the part of the governor’s office and Republican legislators.”

DeSantis has vowed more action against Disney. However, legal experts argue it may be difficult for the district to do anything about the plan without breaching its contract with Disney or initiating a strenuous legal challenge that will cost Florida taxpayers and employees.

The feud between DeSantis and Disney began last spring when the company opposed the Parental Rights in Education bill, which DeSantis has since signed into law. Disney called the bill extremely harmful to LGBT youth, prompting DeSantis to label the company a "woke corporation" out of touch with Florida parents. The bill is better known as the "Don't Say Gay" bill.

The big question here is, if DeSantis gets his way with Disney, would his personal board be able to run Florida's largest employer and maintain the economic development in Reedy Creek?

What do you think about DeSantis's fight with Disney?

the mouse has had virtual autonomy in it's commercial activity and has enjoyed tremendous success in Florida while also benefiting from what are essentially government subsidies. after the death of Roy Disney the social agenda became more overt and children's entertainment became a vehicle for political activism. this has been unacceptable to many of us for a while. I find it unreasonable and arrogant for the mouse to step in to a public arena and make a controversial statement about a divisive issue and not expect a response. and besides, don't teach sexual orientation K-3rd grade, no hormone blockers to minors. where's the controversy?
