DeSantis' Hidden Strategy to Run for President Unveiled

The strategy behind Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis' presidential plans is becoming more apparent.

As he moves closer to an anticipated presidential run, DeSantis has deployed his executive authority to pursue aspects of his hardline conservative agenda. He's carefully using appointees, boards, and the state Constitution to create a springboard for his presidential efforts.

Even if he doesn't run in 2024 (which many deem highly unlikely), DeSantis is still pulling together a strategy in place to secure his eventual presidential run.

    The apparent strategy

The strategy demonstrates the Republican's willingness to leverage DeSantis office to gain political victories and punish political enemies. The GOP-controlled Legislature has accelerated his plans through the statehouse. Additionally, it communicates the precise manner that underlies his public demeanor and gives cues as to how he may lead if elected as the president of the United States.

For DeSantis, his broad mandate as Florida's elected governor includes these unilateral moves.

"November's election results represent a vindication of our joint efforts over these past four years. The results also vest in us the responsibility to lead and provide us the opportunity to shoot for the stars," DeSantis told lawmakers in his yearly address to start the legislative session this year. "Boldness be our friend in this endeavor. We have a lot we need to accomplish."

    Starting with the battleground states

To properly carry out his agenda, DeSantis developed a complete list of his responsibilities after winning office, according to a spokesperson for the governor. The spokesman also noted that the Legislature supported many of DeSantis' initiatives.

DeSantis won general support through his defiance of widespread coronavirus lockdowns. Since then, he has strengthened his reputation as a Republican firebrand by participating in the country's culture wars. DeSantis is anticipated to officially announce his White House run after the state Legislature's regular session concludes in early May.

In the meantime, DeSantis has increased his out-of-state travel by visiting crucial presidential battleground states and holding public rallies.

DeSantis will also benefit from the fact that statehouse Republicans, who now hold a supermajority, are already moving swiftly to implement several of his conservative policies.

He should have answered the question when he was running for governor. If true, then he has deceived his voters and was unethica and blindsided them.
