Pop-Up Malibu Barbie Cafe to open in Chicago

Just in time for the much-anticipated movie, Barbie fans can be "transported to 1970s Malibu California" this summer.

(CHICAGO) Get your Barbie fix at Chicago's new pop-up cafe opening this summer.

The "Barbie" movie, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling has generated a lot of excitement for all things Barbie.

In a collaboration between Mattel and Bucket Listers, a Barbie-inspired pop-up cafe is coming to Chicago and New York City this summer. Tickets are on sale now for Chicago's Malibu Barbie Cafe.

"As soon as you step into our trendy cafe, you’ll be transported to 1970s Malibu California with a sea of poptimistic Barbie colors, laid-back beachy motifs, and lots of retro glam."

What to expect

The decor will be exactly what you would expect for a Barbie paradise. A dreamy montage of pink, plastic, and beachy vibes.

Get your Instagram pics inside an iconic life-size Barbie Box. And of course, shop the store for a variety of Barbie merchandise.

As for dining, guests can enjoy Barbie-inspired menu items at the pop-up.

The restaurant will offer casual fare inspired by 1970s California, including Pacific Paradise Pancakes, West Coast Wave Wedge Salad, a California Dreamin' Club Sandwich, and tasty desserts and drinks.

According to the Chicago SunTimes, the menu is curated by MasterChef Season 3 semi-finalist, Becky Reams.

“We are delighted to announce the opening of The Malibu Barbie Cafe, a truly unique dining experience that celebrates Barbie and all the brand represents,” said Julie Freeland, a senior director at Mattel. “At Mattel we are always looking for exciting, new ways to bring the Barbie experience to life. From the beach-loving décor to the menu, every detail has been thoughtfully designed to celebrate the iconic Barbie style, with nostalgic details fans will love.”

• Ticket prices: Early bird pricing is $22 to $30 for kids/$39 to $49 for adults

Your ticket will get you a 90-minute table reservation, one entree, and one side. Drinks, shared plates, and desserts are available for extra.

Tickets are on sale now through the website. This event is sure to be popular, especially on weekends as some times are already showing as sold out.
