DeSantis Claims Victory Over Disney: Truth or Fiction?

In the ongoing dispute that started last year, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis asserts that he has defeated Disney.

The courts, though, might have a different opinion on that.

The governor retaliated after the former CEO of Disney voiced his opinion about the "Don't Say Gay" bill last year.

Florida GOP canceled the Reedy Creek Improvement District under DeSantis' leadership, and it is now taking steps to increase Walt Disney World Resort oversight.

DeSantis has been threatening Disney and the District over the past year. Disney has stood its ground and continued to work its magic.

Meanwhile, DeSantis is ushering in Trump's footpath. He's confidently announcing victories on conflicts that are far from being resolved.

The Law is on Disney's Side

The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District attempted to revoke a development agreement struck between the previous Reedy Creek Improvement District and Disney.

DeSantis tried to seize control over one of the largest employers in the Sunshine States. After losing the initial battle, he started threatening with ceiling-high taxes and disrupting roads leading to Disney.

At this point, Disney filed lawsuits against the governor of Florida, various officials, and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District board. Days later, the board filed a countersuit as a result of this.

Disney's lawsuit against DeSantis would stop all of the "retaliatory" activities from the previous year.

To silence Disney, the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District filed a state court lawsuit against the company.

In the meantime, Governor DeSantis and the state legislature are pushing legislation to annul the Disney-Reedy Creek development agreement and to give more control over the monorails at Walt Disney World.

Everything else is up in the air now that the legal dispute is in play.
