Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is selling out Florida homeowners to support the wealthy insurance sector.

The governor cashed in $3.9 million from the industry to support his personal goals, according to Hedge Clippers report.

The report, "How Ron DeSantis sold out Florida homeowners," contends that DeSantis' decision-making may have been affected by the insurance business, which it claims was a significant underwriter of his rise to the governor's mansion and as a future White House contender.

    The big party

According to the analysis of campaign finance data, two insurance companies contributed $125,000 to DeSantis's 2023 inauguration party, which marked the start of his final term as governor.

DeSantis' administration's decision to prioritize the interests of Florida's insurance corporations over the state's residents is not an accident, the study claims.

Establishing a $2 billion taxpayer-funded reinsurance fund was one of these advantages for insurance companies.

Using your money to fund insurance companies

It seems like DeSantis believes in socialism for insurance companies.

His funds protect the insurers against catastrophic events and keep them from going bankrupt.

In contrast to this case, insurance companies usually purchase this coverage on the open market, paying the market prices. DeSantis enabled Florida insurers to use taxpayer money to open access to a state-subsidized insurance fund.

Home insurance is a contentious topic in Florida, where populations vulnerable to climate problem experience more frequent and severe hurricanes and other weather events. Record-breaking property damage was sustained by Hurricane Ian last year, and recent rains have flooded several Fort Lauderdale neighborhoods for more than a week.

It is getting worse for many people. The Insurance Information Institute anticipates an average 40% increase in insurance premiums this year.

Most homeowners can't afford such premiums and are forced to live in barely acceptable conditions.

Well you get what you deserve. Not that his opponent was any better. Either one was going to screw the citizens.

@tonikoraza - "how" exactly did he sell out? same campaign contributions amounts probably went to Charlie Crist as well. Re-insurance is not a new practice. Many insurance companies leave areas if not profitable, period.
