Where to Take Dad for Father's Day 2023 in Western Washington

    2023-06-10

From free events to festive outings that cost a little more, there’s a large variety of places to take your favorite father figure on his special day. Father’s Day falls on Sunday, June 18th, and Western Washington has a lot to offer families who want to get out of the house to celebrate.

There are a lot of festivals happening in June, including some running during Father’s Day weekend. Meeker Days in Puyallup and the Fremont Fair in Seattle run on Sunday and have loads of activities for the whole family.

The highly popular Olympic Air Show takes place the whole weekend at the Olympia Regional Airport. Squadrons of fliers, aerobatic stunts, historic planes, firefighting helicopters, and flying formations fill the skies, while jet cars, parked planes, and motorcycle drill teams entertain on the ground. Bring a cooler and a picnic and make a whole day of it. Tickets run from $20 to $35.

For aviation fans who prefer something a little quieter, The Museum of Flight is offering free admission to dads who are accompanied by their kids of any age.

If dad is an art lover, the Edmonds Art Festival takes place from the 16th to the 18th. Over 200 artists and craftspeople from around the country set up here, and there will be live music, food stalls, activities for kids, and more.

Train enthusiasts would enjoy the historic steam train trips offered by the Northwest Railway Museum. These 2-hour trips between Snoqualmie and North Bend only happen a few times a year.

Car lovers should attend Fenders on Front Street in Issaquah. This popular car show offers up the sweetest of rides along with food trucks, music, and much more.

On the pricier but really special side, Waterways Cruises and Events offers up two Father’s Day cruises. There’s a brunch cruise and a BBQ cruise. Both are 2-hour cruises on Lake Union and Lake Washington, and they provide complete menus and private tables.

If you’d rather dine on dry land, OpenTable has a special search option for restaurants open on Father’s Day. Search by area, from Olympia to north of Seattle, cuisine types, and more.
