Visit This Drive Inn for Island Favorites

Many who drive through Dillingham Blvd know that rail construction has already started. Some of the restaurants and businesses are affected by the many detours along the way. On the 4th of July, I stopped at Waiakamilo Shopping Center to buy a plate lunch at Waiakamilo Drive Inn. I’ve been to several restaurants around the area but have never been to Waiakamilo Drive Inn.

I went during lunch at about 11:30 am and noticed no one was there. It was good for me because the ordering and the wait time for my order were fast. There were many items on the menu that I saw at many of the other island restaurants. Today, I ordered fried saimin with mochiko chicken. Each restaurant has its unique recipe for fried saimin. Waiakamilo Drive Inn was no exception. Their fried saimin was delicious, but I’ve had mochiko chicken at other locations that I liked better. Still, the fried saimin with mochiko chicken was delicious; the food they served was more than many other places, which is a big plus.

I looked for their history online but never saw anything. However, their Yelp reviews were good. They serve many of the island favorites. Many of the restaurants and businesses along Dillingham Blvd have already been affected by the rail transit construction.

Final Thought

I was glad to see some businesses and restaurants open during the construction phase on Dillingham Blvd. If you’ve visited many other island drive inns, Waiakamilo serves the same comfort foods as the other restaurants. If you are in the area, visit their restaurant at the Waiakamilo Shopping Center and support a local business.
