    Virginia State Police investigating 2 crashes; 1 fatality

    CULPEPER COUNTY, Va. – State Police are investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred Thursday July 6, at the intersection of James Monroe Highway (Rt. 29) and South Merrimac Road (Rt. 643).

    Just before noon, a 2019 Toyota Camry attempted to cross the northbound lanes of Route 29 when it collided with a northbound 2012 Nissan Armada. The impact caused both vehicles to leave the roadway.

    The driver of the Toyota, Gloria M. Driscoll, 91, of Culpeper, was pronounced dead at the. She was not wearing a seatbelt.

    The driver of the Nissan, a 56-year-old Midland man, suffered minor injuries and was transported to UVA Medical Center for treatment. He was wearing a seatbelt.

    FAQUIER COUNTY, Va. – State Police are investigating a crash that occurred Monday July 10,

    The crash occurred Monday, July 10, along James Monroe Highway (Rt. 29), just north of Freeman’s Ford Road (Rt. 651).

    Just after 9 p.m., a 2003 Honda CR-V was eluding law enforcement, traveling northbound on Route 29 in the right lane.

    During the pursuit, the Honda swerved into the left lane to avoid another vehicle that was stopped on the right shoulder. In doing so, the Honda collided with a Culpeper County Sheriff's Deputy’s vehicle. The impact caused the Honda to run off the left side of the roadway and overturn.

    The driver of the Honda, a 43-year-old male of Earlysville, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He suffered life-threatening injuries and was flown to INOVA Fairfax Hospital for treatment. The deputy was not injured.

    Both the Culpeper County and the Fauquier County crashes remain under investigation by Virginia State Police.
