Former President Donald Trump told Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to "get home" and fix his state.

"We want him to get home and take care of insurance because you have the highest insurance in the nation," Trump said.

This is the first time Trump directly accused DeSantis of failing at his job since the Florida governor formally entered the race.

Both candidates have been escalating direct attacks recently. Trump seems to inflict more damage.

    DeSantis Campaign Implodes

Trump now has a significant lead over DeSantis in the Republican primaries, according to national polling.

Trump criticized the recent departure of insurance corporations, which Florida's chief financial officer attributed to businesses "playing politics."

The former president made his remarks at a conference organized by Turning Point Action, a conservative group with a mission to include people in the political process. The meeting was held in a jam-packed hall with thousands of guests.

DeSantis must be Trump's leading rival for the nomination, but the Florida governor's polling ratings have stagnated recently.

DeSantis has been attempting to persuade his most ardent supporters recently that he can defeat Trump.

He disclosed that he had raised $20.1 million in the first six weeks of his campaign.

The DeSantis campaign stated in a memo dated July 6 to "friends and family" that it is "ready to win this marathon."

The document also mentioned difficulties DeSantis would face.

Sen. Tim Scott, seen as a potential danger to DeSantis in certain early states, will soon undergo "appropriate scrutiny."

According to a memo from the campaign, it will concentrate on the first four on the primary calendar rather than on later-voting states. It also promised not to waste valuable campaign funds.

The fact that a twice impeached, four time indicted with a total of 91 felonies traitor would be leading the Republican POTUS race is a sad indictment of that party's character. There was once a time when character mattered.
