First, Some Oregon State Job Facts

Did you know that te average pay for a fast food job in Oregon state is $21.94 an hour? While it's good that wages in Oregon are getting better, rental prices are likely to go up by 14.6 for many in 2023.

Luckily, the state of Oregon is not able to raise the rent on its residents more than once a year. Still, with inflation hitting hard in 2023, finding an affordable place is a bit of a challenge still.

In the future, Oregon will see some decent job growth. From 2021 to 2031 Oregon will add over a quarter of a million jobs. 3% of those jobs will be due to self employment, which should get more and more common over time.

He Offered To Take His Daughter To The Store Instead Of Giving Her Cash

When it comes to parenting, it's usually pretty easy to tell when your child is struggling. Recently on Reddit, a parent made a post about his daughter wanting some money. She said she needed food, but OP knew she was going to blow it on fast food.

OP's kid was told if she needs anything to just ask and she's been a good kid for the most part. She got a full scholarship to a great school a couple of hours away and did fine for a while.

The problem is that OP's daughter doesn't control her spending well. She'll do stuff like order a fast food meal that costs more to deliver than the meal itself. OP is tired of it because he can see how wasteful spending is causing her problems.

When OP tried to confront his child about wasteful spending, she said he was fat shaming her and needs to get off her back. OP says it's not a big deal to him what she does with her money but when she asks for money he feels like he should have more of a say in what she can use it for.

Commenters seem to be on OP's side and one even says to just get her a grocery store gift card. After all, if she's truly hungry then being able to get some of the basics is ust what she needs.

Do you think OP is in the right by trying to keep his child away from wasting money? Is it fat shaming to tell someone you'll get the food at the grocery store instead of fast food?

I learned in Girl Scouts that when you're grocery shopping, look at the price per ounce. My son and his wife were having $ issues but had all name brand food plus little individual servings of fruit, chips cookies etc to make it easier to pack lunch. I said get zip bags and bowls with lids from the dollar store. They thanked me because they didn't know.

My grand daughters spouse lost his job and I asked do they need groceries. She said yes so I took her to the store and paid for it. It was more than she would have gotten for her birthday and that's what she decided was best.
