The murder investigation into 2Pac has unpredictably picked back up this month, and now forensic experts will analyze bullets found at Duane "Keefe D" Davis' residence to see if they are connected to the rap icon's passing.

The Henderson, Nevada home of Keefe D's wife, Paula Clemons, was the target of a search warrant that was carried out by Las Vegas police last week, according to the Daily Mirror.

The uncle of 'Pac's accused killer, Orlando Anderson, and a former member of the South Side Compton Crips, Keefe D has admitted more than once that he was involved in the 1996 murder of the rapper.

The incident was described in vivid detail by Keefe D in his 2019 book Compton Street Legend, in which he admitted to being in the car with Anderson and two other people and giving his nephew the gun.

Tupac made an erratic move and began to reach down beneath his seat,” he wrote. “It was the first and only time in my life that I could relate to the police command ‘Keep your hands where I can see them.’ Instead, ‘Pac pulled out a straw, and that’s when the fireworks started. One of my guys from the back seat grabbed the Glock and started bustin’ back.”

According to a source with the Vegas police, the rounds will be subjected to forensic analysis "to determine if they have any link to the bullets found in 2Pac's body or on the scene of the homicide."

For more than 25 years, homicide detectives have retained clothing, ammunition, and other forensic evidence from 'Pac's killing scene and body in a secure location. Additionally, the crime scene's shells, bullets, and powder have undergone extensive scientific investigation.

Microfibers or residues from the weapon or the bullet could prove to be a link,” the source added. “There is no information yet on the history of the bullets, how old they are or their significance. And it will take some time to assess how the bullets play a role in this case.”
According to the source, "investigators feel they can assemble enough information that could lead to an arrest or indictment" in the long-unsolved case, which is why the search warrant was carried out. They did acknowledge, though, that "it is a long shot that the bullets will be the ones from 1996."

During their search, Las Vegas police also recovered a number of additional materials from Keefe D's home, including computers, hard drives, and old photographs of people who might have been connected to those directly or indirectly involved in the shooting.

A grand jury in Las Vegas will hear the evidence before deciding whether to file an indictment. It's possible that further search warrants will be carried out in the coming weeks.

Orlando Anderson, a Compton crip who was slain in a separate gang killing in 1998, was the main suspect in the case despite the fact that no arrests have ever been made in connection with 2Pac's murder.

On the evening of September 7, 1996, Anderson got into a fight with the rapper All Eyez On Me in the foyer of the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Allegations that he had stolen a Death Row affiliate's chain months earlier led to the altercation.

A few hours later, 2Pac and Suge Knight were standing next to a white Cadillac when it drew up and started shooting, striking the 26-year-old rapper many times. This was close to the intersection of Koval Lane and East Flamingo Road. Due to his injuries, he passed away in the hospital six days later.
