This City Has Been Named the most Affordable Place to Live in Virginia

    2023-08-07

The cost of living varies greatly throughout the United States but communities from every corner of the country are feeling the heat as housing, food, transportation, health care, and costs of other necessities are rising.

The online business publication known as 24/7 Wall St. has collected data from the Economic Policy Institute’s Family Budget Calculator to identify the least expensive place to live in every state. They based these findings on the estimated monthly cost for a single adult to maintain a modest yet adequate standard of living.

So where is the most affordable place to live in the Old Dominion State? According to 24/7 Wall St., that would be Danville.

Danville is an independent city in the Commonwealth of Virginia in the United States. The city is located in the Southside Virginia region along the North Carolina border and on the fall line of the Dan River.

As of the 2020 census, the city was home to 42,215 residents.

It is estimated that the monthly cost of living in Danville on average is only $2,694 with just 18% of that total being attributed to housing costs. This is on the much lower end of the spectrum for the national average cost of living per month which can reach an average as high as $3,500.

The average income here is $36,301 a year meaning most residents make well above the income needed to live comfortably.

It is this combination of factors that makes Danville a more affordable option when compared to other communities in Virginia.

What do you think? Did you know Danville was one of the most affordable areas in the country? Let us know what you think in the comments.

I'm retired a widow who receives only 1700.00 a month SS. I have no savings due to medical bills, the furnace was repaired, and the roof had to be replaced. I tried to get food stamps and other help they claim for senior citizens and as turned down. my utilities are anywhere from 250 to 400 dollars. I have an oil furnace. plus taxes and Medicare and supplement insurance is deducted from SS. I want to see the politicians live off my income. groceries car insurance food and other bills to.pay

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣where did you get these lies from. I know people that have jobs here and don't bring home $3,000.00 a month. The elderly, disabled, on Social Security don't even get $2,000.00. a month. Which by the way would maybe leave you with $300 for the month after your necessary expenses.
