    Now that kids are either back in school or soon to be, prime festival season will be kicking back up again. It's not Fall just yet in Louisiana, but hopefully, the intense heat will let up soon.

    These festivals and events should help you prepare for more to come.

    Cajun Linen Night - Thibodeaux - August 11

    What might be considered Thibodeaux's answer to White Linen Night in New Orleans, Cajun Linen Night happens this Friday, August 11, in the city's Historic Downtown. In this version, patrons are encouraged to dress cool and comfy decked out in their best Cajun-inspired attire.

    From 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, businesses will offer extended business hours and specials. A night of fun for all ages will feature live music and a variety of local vendors.

    New Orleans Comic Con - Kenner - August 12 & 13

    4545 Williams Blvd.

    The Pontchartrain Convention & Civic Center in Kenner is the setting for Comic Con 2023, Saturday, August 12 from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Sunday, August 13 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The weekend includes cosplay, dealers, artists, games, and amazing guests

    Red Dress Run - New Orleans French Quarter - August 12

    2300 N. Peters Street

    Ladies and gentlemen, it's time to put your red dresses on. In its second year following the pandemic hiatus, the Red Dress Run has been happening in the French Quarter since 1995. Organized by the New Orleans Hash House Harriers, the run begins at 9:00 AM in Crescent Park. The course is never revealed ahead of time.

    Beer kegs from Crescent Crown Distributing, Abita Brewing Company, and Miller/Coors Brewing Company will be tapped when the gates open. Lunch will be served at the end of the run, once everyone has reached the finish line (approximately 11:30 AM).

    Entrance fee is $65. Proceeds benefit small, local non-profits in the form of grants.
