LURAY, Va. – Remote Area Medical (RAM), a leading provider of pop-up clinics, is seeking volunteer medical, dental and vision professionals and general support staff for its Sept. 30 - Oct. 1 clinic, to be held at Luray High School.

For almost 40 years, RAM has provided free healthcare services via “pop-up” clinics around the United States. These clinics deliver free quality services to under-served and uninsured individuals who do not have access to, or cannot afford, a doctor.

All services provided by RAM are free. No ID or financial statements required.

Services available at RAM clinics include general medical exams, women’s health exams, dental services (cleanings, fillings, extractions, X-rays), and vision services (eye exams, eye health screenings, eyeglass prescriptions, and eyeglasses made on-site).

Dental, vision, and medical services are provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Due to time constraints, patients should be prepared to choose between DENTAL and VISION services. Medical services are offered to every patient attending.

For the Luray clinic, RAM encourages those who would like services, especially dental services, to arrive as early as possible. Overnight staff volunteers are needed to greet patients in the parking lot area, at 243 Bulldog Drive.

The lot will open no later than 11:59 p.m. on Friday night, Sept. 29, and remain open throughout the duration of the clinic. Doors typically open at 6 a.m. If arriving more than an hour early, patients should be prepared with their own food, water, medicines, and clothing. Bathrooms will be provided.

General support volunteers do not need to work in the medical field. Volunteers are also needed to help complete set-up on Friday, Sept. 29 and “take-down” on Sunday, Oct. 1. Interpreters are needed to provide general information and to aid patients through the clinic process.

In rare situations, such as inclement weather, volunteer cancellations, or other circumstances outside of RAM’s control, the parking lot may open earlier or a smaller number of patients served. Clinic closing time may vary based on each service area’s daily capacity. Please continue to check the RAM schedule regularly for updates as your clinic dates near.

For more information, to learn how you can help and/or volunteer for the Luray pop up clinic, visit www.ramusa.org/event/luray-va-2023, follow RAM on Facebook @RAMUSA.ORG or call RAM’s Tennessee headquarters at (865) 579-1530.
