    Iowa Police Officer Shot and Killed

    As per the Iowa State Patrol, the individual accused of shooting a police officer late Wednesday night was apprehended around midnight.

    Iowa Department of Public Safety Commissioner Stephan K. Bayens has identified the police officer that was shot and killed as Kevin Cram, 33, who has served in law enforcement for a decade.

    The alleged perpetrator reportedly shot the officer at approximately 8 p.m. in the 1100 block of S. Minnesota St.

    Ricke was apprehended shortly before midnight and taken into custody in Brown County, Minnesota.

    According to the Iowa State Patrol's report, the suspect accused accused of shooting the Algona police officer around 8 p.m. the previous night in the 1100 block of South Minnesota Street. Authorities reported that he fled from the town of Kossuth County, triggering a Blue Alert, which is employed when a suspect is at large and poses a danger to law enforcement officers.

    The suspect was located just before midnight, approximately 100 miles north of Algona, in Leavenworth Township, rural Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, and was apprehended "without incident," as stated in a news release from the Brown County Sheriff's Office in Minnesota.

    The suspect is currently detained in the Brown County Jail.
